Hello, my beautiful subscribers!
Here is some footage of my show at Mortimer’s in Minneapolis a couple of days ago. As soon as I am done with this post, I plan to begin emailing some venues around town to start booking more shows here in Minneapolis. Above is the footage of the first two songs that opened my set on Wednesday.
Last night I was speaking with my dear friend Carina Round, and I kept saying, “Jeez, I forgot how great it felt to play live.” We spoke for almost 2 hours, nothing like talking to another artist who understands the challenges of this vocation.
Also, for those of you who have been paying attention, she sent me her background vocals for a song that WPC wrote, which I have already recorded. She most certainly put her Carina Round signature on this masterpiece. It was a special song before, but now it is pure magic. I need to add one more detail to this gorgeous tune, and then it will be ready for mixing. It is truly spectacular.
In other news, yesterday I interviewed my friend Matt Ross Spang, whom I have known for a very long time. He has turned into such a fantastic producer/mixer, and I am so proud of all the incredible things he has accomplished. If you are interested in hearing our conversation, please check it out. We discussed the Memphis music scene and the Nashville music scene, as well as the Margo Price album Hard Headed Woman that he produced.
Below you will find just a few random photos I took in the bathroom stall of Mortimer’s. I love me a graffiti wall. Also, thank you to David Biljen for taking the black and white photo of me while I was playing; I love it so much. Tomorrow, I’m doing a fun live with Diana Dagaz—a fun conversation between a mystic and a musician. We will talk about identity, creativity, and how they intersect in a complex world.
